As an England Athletics affiliated club, we have a formal Committee structure in place to manage and oversee the Club’s activities.

Athletics, and specifically distance running, has been my sport as a participant and spectator for over 50 years. Although participation was sporadic from the age of 30 to early 40s. It wasn’t until then that I joined my first running Club.
All but one of my pbs came post 50, similarly so have most of the things Ive been lucky enough to win. Even as a late starter, never say never. I still try to remain active and relatively competitive although the incidence of things breaking, snapping or falling off is on the increase.
I developed a passion for coaching and mentoring (nagging) and started coaching, albeit informally, around 20 years ago. I’ve only been formally qualified as a coach for 15 years. For one reason and another, I’ve been a member of a few Clubs since, having had roles of Team Captain, Webmaster, Coach, Race Director and currently Chair of BLC on the Run. I’m also on the Execuitve Committe of Suffolk County AC.

I only started running in 2020 as a way to keep my kids active during lockdown. We did the couch to 5k together and while they promptly quit at week 9, I got the bug and carried on. This was a huge shock to me as I’d always been convinced that I was physically unable to run and actively avoided it!
I kept it quiet for a while, until my sister (a regular runner) clocked I could do 5k and convinced me to try further. Hearing about the formation of a new running club (where all abilities were welcome), the timing was perfect and we both came along to the first session. Miraculously the Paarlauf failed to put us off and I am now proud to have been a member since the start.
I have since completed numerous races, including 3 half marathons. But the best thing for me is the community that has been created. I love the Sunday Social runs and as a committee member I want to ensure the club thrives and stays true to its USP of being a friendly and inclusive club for all runners.

As Membership Secretary for BLC on the Run, I am passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every member feels valued. The club means so much to me personally – I’m incredibly grateful to have found such a welcoming and encouraging community. I believe in the power of connection and am dedicated to fostering friendships that go beyond running.
Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or just starting your running journey, my goal is to ensure you feel welcomed, encouraged, and empowered to achieve your personal best. Through collaboration, support, and a shared love of running, I aim to help each member reach their individual goals while building lasting relationships along the way. Together, we’ll make BLC on the Run a place where everyone can thrive, grow, and find the motivation and camaraderie they need to succeed.

I started running in 2016, inspired by my older brother and motivated by a desire to improve my health and fitness. To stay committed, I joined Great Bentley Running Club right away, and it wasn’t long before I set my sights on bigger challenges.
In 2018, I ran my first marathon, and later that year, I took on my first ultramarathon—a 75-mile, two-day trail race—which I unexpectedly won. From there, my passion for endurance running grew, leading me to complete 100 miles in 24 hours at the Suffolk Trail Festival and take on extreme elevation challenges, including a marathon with 5,000 feet of climbing to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
In 2021, I was invited to deliver a coaching session at a newly formed club in Brantham, which I later joined as both a member and committee member. I’ve since helped organize events, including launching an annual self-navigating trail series to raise funds for the club. As a committee member, I’m passionate about creating a welcoming and supportive environment, helping runners of all abilities achieve their goals, and sharing my love for endurance running.
