We were formed in 2021, holding our first session on 1 July 2021. It came from a grain of an idea and a few posts on a local Facebook page. We now have a membership of over 100 with regular attendances of 40 plus. We affiliated to England Athletics on 1 January 2023 and to Suffolk County Athletics Association in January 2024.
We pride ourselves on being inclusive and welcoming and our members range in age from 12 to 70+ covering all running abilities.
The club’s is dedicated to fostering community spirit and contributing to charitable causes through running events.
In February 2023, the club organized a 24-hour run titled ‘Miles for Marsland’ to support bowel cancer research. This event was inspired by Steve Marsland, a local resident battling incurable bowel cancer. The initiative saw participation from 76 runners and volunteers, collectively covering nearly 750 miles and raising over £6,000 for the cause. Similar events are planned for the future.
Becoming a member of our running club supports Brantham Leisure Centre, which is the base for our main weekly club runs, and the annual Brantham 5 Mile & Junior Fun Run.
Kit
We’re incredibly proud of our club, which is why we offer a range of kit so that everyone knows that you are part of something amazing. The kit optional, so you can wear what you like on club nights, but it is customary to wear club colours when racing! Kit can be purchased from our local supplier.
